Large and complex site for the Arkhangelsk Regional Scientific Library named after N.A. Dobrolyubov – the biggest library in the Arkhangelsk Region, taking over 4 floors and 8000 square meters. The library was founded in 1833.
THE TASK
The technological task was to implement nonstandard content management functionality, when different departments of the library could manage different parts of the content in different sections of the site. Such an unusual structure required the use of a unique solution, since no common CMS had such built-in features and could speed up the solution of the problem.
Besides we also had to implement numerous library services.
SOLUTION
The work began with the concept and design of the main pages of the site. In our approach to design, we tried to adhere to material design format, promoted by Google that was gaining popularity at that time. As design work and web site coding were finished, we started to implement the features.
We chose the technological stack of the PHP language and its Yii2 framework, which had just appeared at the start of the work. The stack choice is due to the simplicity and speed of the project implementation, the possibility of inexpensive support or development in future.
All work was done in close contact with the library staff, which provided all the necessary assistance to obtain a quality product, and assisted in testing.
RESULTS
The site has been in operation for several years and implements its main function - it delivers information to the visitors of the library and users of its book fund.
